A Trend I had to Parttake In

I had such a vision for this portrait session and it left me incredibly inspired. 2024 was the year of blurry, motion filled photos done in (hopefully) an artistic way. I couldn't help but try to perfect the technique myself. You'd think it'd be easy.. nah. It's actually a lot more technical than you'd expect.

Oh my goodnesssss! As I'm looking back at this session I'm geeking out cause they're so cute!

We found the sweetest little secluded beach with a nice, narrow trail that made for some real good shots. It was so nice to be able to shoot these without having to worry about getting in the way or tourists in the background.

Not to be Dramatic, but...

Nothing really compares to the traditional, in-focus portraits. They're a classic for a reason. However, I'm absolutely in love with the heightened drama that the motion blur adds. It's so much more cinematic and emotional than the overdone - stand there, look at me and smile - pose. It's so much more captivating and interesting in my opinion. When I saw other photographers posting their images with this technique I knew I had to try it. Every image made me feel some type of way (maybe it's the empath in me) even without seeing the couples faces. Like wow! That's powerful imagery right there.

You KNOW we had to rent some bikes and do some cutesy little shots with the bikes. I mean, it's Mackinac Island after all! (If you're unaware, the only source of transportation on this island is by horse, bike, or your legs).

I exceeded my expectations for what I wanted to accomplish during this session. It left me feeling incredibly inspired and I can't wait to tell some stories using this photography technique.
