What to Wear for your Summer Engagement Session
It's now summer here in Michigan (finally) which means newly engaged couples will be starting to book engagement sessions. I'm here to help guide you to looking your very best as this session is very important. What you wear can either make or break your photos... so no pressure.
Tip #1. Coordinating is Key
When picking out your outfits as a couple, lay your clothes out side by side. This will help you determine what will look good in your photos. Mixing patterns, textures & solids is tricky but it can be done. Remember the key is to coordinate, not to match.
Tip #2. Think Dressy & Casual
To give you options and variety in your gallery it's best to have two different outfits planned for the two of you, one dressier outfit and one casual outfit.
Tip #3. Compliment Your Skin Tone
You want to make sure that whatever color scheme you choose it compliments both you and your partners skin tone. This is especially important because if you choose the wrong color scheme it can wash you out in your photos.
Tip #4. Forget Fussy Clothes
You know those pants that you love and are really cute but they're so uncomfortable? Yeah forget em'. Or maybe that shirt that's cute and comfortable but shows every bra line? Forget it. If you're constantly messing with your clothes or seeing if they're fitting right, say it with me... forget it. If you are not comfortable in the outfit you are wearing it will show in your photos. If you think "Hm, I'll just make sure this strap is covering my bra strap at all times." Don't. Don't even bother. If that bra strap bothers you now it will definitely bother you in your photos. For your own sanity, just pick something else. Please.
Tip #5. Get Creative
Your engagement session is meant to represent who you are as a couple and as individuals. Wear something that you're going to be the most comfortable in for your personality. If you want to do half of your session in sweats, I can curate half of your session to match the sweatpants vibe.
Tip #6. Flatter Your Body
Some styles that flatter other people are not always going to flatter you, and that's okay. There are a lot of youtube videos out there that can help you determine your body shape and help you find clothing styles that will flatter you.
But Heck, What Do I Know?
All in all, when it comes down to it these are your photos and whatever you say goes. If you want to wear tie dye by all means go for it!
